Hockey - the finals

After finsihing in 8th place on the ladder the association split the top ten into a Division one and Division two into their respective finals series.

The top 6 teams [automatically division one] play off for their own grand final in two weeks.

The next four, including us, play off for a division 2 final place.

Today was the Semi finals, and we were playing YMCC at the WASPS ground in West Perth - opposite the zoo.

We beat YMCC 2-0 to make it straight into the grand final in 2 weeks time.

YMCC now will play the winner of the other game next week to see who plays us in the final.

With this in mind I am gonna see if anyone would like to come watch me play and maybe see a few spunky over 40 guys ;-)

end of season

I know I've not written for a while about the hockey, but it was NOT a good 4 weeks which we finally broke today...

I am home from hockey against Whitfords...

shall I say not a clean game that the umpires should have pinged straight away to stop the crappy tackles etc.

So, I am sweaty, sore, but happy....

Actually I am not sure if I went to a fight and a game of hockey broke out LOL.

We won 3-1, and won the fights 2-0. :-D

Last week was bye for us, but I ended up umpiring on the Saturday.

So tis weekend was against OGMHC. They're a few positions below us, but as ever the forwards could not put the ball in the net. result 0-0.

This game was against the top of the table Riverside Lions.

we ended up losing 1-0 with at least 3 of our good players absent.

their goal was definitely due to me not knowing where the cage was in relation to me, as it was at least 8 feet out from the right place and the ground was not marked correctly.

Saturday Hockey 2/6 and 9/6

Sat 2nd was a good game even though we had to struggle to win 3-2, but the same cannot be said of the game on the 9th. We were playing a side who were a man downa ll game and only managed to draw 2-2. It was not the most exciting of games.

I maybe having a bit of a confidence slump, but will work on gaining the edge back.

Monday night social game

Well last night was not bad, we lost Frank in the 1st half to a ball to the foot. He was moaning like he was having the best orgasm of his life as he lay on the floor behind my goal. I could not help laugh as the noises were just too much not to laugh at.

We played the game with 10 men after that, and held them out until the last 10 mins.

The scored two goals before the end of the game, but I had all the field players from the opposition say I'd played a great game, and had probably kept the score line looking reasonable rather than 8 or 10 against.

Anyhow, 0-2 final result.

State Trials #2

Well the trials this morning went ok - apart from stuffing up on two occaisions. Sigh

Given the time that we were there it seems that the team was chosen basically on last week's performances. In which case I cannot see myself making the team.

Oh well. I tried. I saw. I fell at the last hurdle.

The team is announced beginning to middle July - so I have over a month to wait and see.

Hockey 26/5/07

Well the game today was ok, we won 3-2 against Hale. The game was pretty end to end, and they only scored a field goal and a rebound short corner.

I think we had more chances, but did not capitalize properly.

Anyhow, will put the updated table up later in the week.

Tomorrow [Sun 27 May] is the 2nd round of state trials for the vets over 40s.

I bloody hope I make it into the side.

tired, sore, bruised

well, hockey today was not the best - we lost 4-1... yes you read correctly. a Four - One loss.

There was not much I could do at times, I stoppped them much more than they scored.

We only had 10 players, so we were on the back foot all the time anyhow, but it was nice to stop some of the players from scoring, especially when they tried to put the ball over the top of me and failed coz I had glove or body there.

Anyhow, tomorrow brings state trials for over 40s.

Cameron still thinks that even with today's game I should make the state team.

Round 2 - Vets Div 1 &2 combined

Played West Coast Raisers today.

Was pretty good game but pissed with an umpire who gave a penalty stroke (that was right decision) but then failed to ask if i was settled and the striker was ready before blowing the whistle to say it was then in our own time...

Result I did not have time to settle before the ball was flicked to my right, and down on the floor..

I got close to stopping it (had full stick on ball, but not enough wrist lock to stop it.

Result of game was 3 all - so that is not too bad.

Monday night vets social hockey

Tonight was the 1st game of the vets social games held at Hale school here in Perth.

Our game was 1st up at 6.15pm - and after fighting traffic to get from here to Hale [reminded me why I do not like driving at times] I got there at about 6pm.

Padded up, and had a quick warm up on the (astro)turf.

The game was boring for me, only touched the ball about 1/2 dozen times.

But the end result was a 5 or 6 goal game to us, and nil to them... a nice win.
